Saint Thomas Health will host a free healthcare clinic at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saint Thomas Health is a part of Ascension, the nation's largest Catholic and non-profit health system.

The Saint Thomas Health Medical Mission at Home is partnering with more than 30 community organizations to provide free medical care including pharmacy services, dental services, mammograms, vision services, foot and wound care, lab and imaging services, and behavioral medicine. Flu vaccines and Hepatitis A vaccines will also be available. More than 600 volunteers from Saint Thomas Health, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains, senior leaders and other hospital staff, will participate.

"Many individuals in Nashville and the surrounding communities who are uninsured or underinsured struggle to find access to affordable healthcare, and Saint Thomas Health is honored to provide free health services as a direct response to this community need," said Tim Adams, Saint Thomas Health President and Chief Executive Officer. "The Nashville Medical Mission is one of several hosted throughout Middle Tennessee each year, and these medical missions are a visible demonstration of Saint Thomas Health living out our mission as a faith-based health system."

Since 2008, Saint Thomas Health has hosted more than 30 Medical Missions at Home in multiple locations throughout Middle Tennessee, including over 20,000 patient encounters for those who are most in need.

The 2017 Nashville Medical Mission at Home provided the following:

• Health care services to 776 patients, including more than 500 medical exams
• 190 dental exams, including more than 300 extractions
• More than 300 prescriptions filled
• Flu vaccinations provided to 435 patients
• Vision exams for 375 patients, including prescription glasses made on-site

The Ascension Medical Mission at Home is an annual national network of free healthcare clinics for the uninsured and underinsured, and led by Ascension caregivers and partners. Ascension Medical Mission at Home clinics have been held in Tennessee, Washington, D.C., New York, Alabama, Florida, Connecticut, Indiana and Texas, with plans to expand to more states and locations in the future.
