Tennessee Dentist Installed as American Dental Association Trustee

William Roy Thompson, D.D.S., a dentist practicing in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was recently installed as a trustee of the American Dental Association (ADA). Dr. Thompson's installation took place in Denver, Colorado, at the ADA's 157th Annual Meeting.

Dr. Thompson will serve on the ADA Board of Trustees as the trustee from the Sixth District, which encompasses Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and West Virginia. The ADA Board of Trustees formulates and reviews policies and programs and makes recommendations to the members of the ADA's governing body, the House of Delegates. As a member of the ADA Board of Trustees, Dr. Thompson will play a major role in the organization's objective of being America's leading advocate for oral health.

Dr. Thompson has been an active member of the American Dental Association since 1978. He is currently an alternate delegate in the House of Delegates and was the chair of the ADA Council on Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations. Dr. Thompson is also involved with the Tennessee Dental Association, served as its president in 2005, and received its Jack E. Wells Dedication to Dentistry Award in 2016. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American College of Dentists, the American Orthodontic Society, the International College of Dentists, the Murfreesboro Dental Society, the Middle Tennessee Dental Study Club, and is an active volunteer at the Interfaith Dental Clinic.

Dr. Thompson earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee. He practices general dentistry in Murfressboro, Tennessee, where he lives with his wife, Margrey. They have three children, Heather, Dylan and Molly.
