Franklin American Mortgage Company and the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl, in partnership with Make-A-Wish® Middle Tennessee are proud to announce this year's honorary captain, Matthew Miles, a 15-year-old lymphoma survivor from Unionville, TN.

Matthew was welcomed as a VIP at several Bowl Week events, including the Official Welcome Party on Dec. 27 at Wildhorse Saloon and Coaches Luncheon on Dec. 29 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center. He will continue his VIP experience at the MusicFest & Battle of the Bands on Dec. 29 and the Bowl Game at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 at Nissan Stadium, where he will participate in the official coin toss at midfield. Matthew and his family will also be provided transportation to each of the events, as well as a suite at the Bowl to enjoy the game with their friends and family.

"When I found out that I was going to be the honorary captain at this year's Bowl Game, I knew it would be an experience of a lifetime," said Matthew. "Although these last few years have been tough, I feel incredibly lucky to have the support of my family, friends and community and I can't wait for game day."

At age 14, Matthew's mother found a large tumor in the back of his throat and he was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. On November 16, 2015 after 10-months of chemotherapy, Matthew's doctors declared that he was cancer-free.

"Partnering with Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee for the last five years has allowed us to share the excitement of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl with a well-deserving member of the Middle Tennessee community," said Dan Crockett, president and CEO of Franklin American Mortgage Company. "From the players on the field to the people watching at home, Matthew's strength and positivity will serve as an inspiration to all during this holiday season."
