For those in the healthcare industry, Hospital Corporation of America's far-reaching impact is well known. The company, founded in 1968, hit a milestone 50th anniversary in 2018. Last month, the Historical Commission of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County recognized that important landmark date with a marker of their own.

On Dec. 7, representatives from the Historical Commission unveiled a permanent marker installed at the location of the company's first corporate headquarters - a three-bedroom, blue and white house located in the parking lot of what was then Park View Hospital. Today, the site is occupied by HCA's Sarah Cannon Cancer Center.

Founded by Thomas Frist, Sr., MD; Thomas Frist, Jr., MD; and Jack C. Massey, HCA Healthcare today operates hospitals in 20 states and the United Kingdom and is staffed by a quarter million employees.
