Metro Nashville
As the music begins to play again in Nashville, the city has segued into Phase II of the reopening plan. This new phase allows for restaurants and retail to ramp up to 75% capacity and live music (but only two performers on stage and no dancing at this point). Hair salons, gyms and tourist attractions will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity. Gatherings of 25 people or less (rather than 10 or less) are also now allowed.
While key metrics remain in the green, the city has seen an uptick in confirmed cases over the past 24 hours as the overall number of cases in Davidson County approaches 5,000. As of this morning, Nashville reported 4,974 cases, up 153 since yesterday. Of the confirmed cases, 1,347 remain active with 3,571 Nashvillians now recovered from COVID-19. Davidson County went into the weekend with 52 deaths. That number has now risen to 56. There have been 54,104 tests administered in Nashville with a positive rate of 9.2%, which is a decrease in the rate of 0.1% since Friday.
Health officials reminded everyone of the importance of continuing social distancing, wearing masks in public and staying home as much as possible in order to maintain the green status of key metrics that will allow reopening of the economy to continue.
