The state has expanded vaccine eligibility, but snow and ice have hampered distribution and testing over the last few days. While hospitalizations and new case numbers have been decreasing for a couple of weeks, do keep in mind the testing and new case numbers for today are most likely impacted by testing sites being closed for several days.
All Community Assessment Centers in Nashville will remain closed for the rest of this week.
Metro Nashville
As of 9:30 today, the city reported 88,382 confirmed cases, an increase of 82 in 24 hours. There are currently 2,258 active cases in Nashville, 85,505 inactive or recovered cases and 224 active hospitalizations. With 619 deaths, the city has a case fatality rate of 0.7%. In Davidson County, the number of tests given is 990,803 with an overall positivity rate of 10.2% and a seven-day positivity rate of 5.8%
Out of 8 metrics on the trend lines, Nashville has 6 in the green, 1 in the yellow and 1 in the red (new cases per 100,000). With a goal for transmission to be less than 1.00, the city's current transmission rate is in the green at 0.89. The 14-day case trend is in the green with new cases categorized as decreasing. Public health and testing capacity remain in the green, as they have throughout.
As of 9:30 am this morning, hospital floor bed capacity was in the green with 23% availability, while ICU beds are still in the yellow at 13% capacity. The goal for both hospital and ICU bed capacity is 20%.
The New Cases per 100K Residents has remained in the red for weeks. The goal of the seven-day rolling average is to be less than 10. Currently, Nashville sits at 30.4 as of 9:30 am this morning, but the figure is trending in the right direction after surpassing 96 in early January and sitting at 51.2 at the end of January. The goal for the 7-Day Positivity Rate is to see a figure at 10% or less. Currently, Nashville is in the green with a rate of 5.8%*

Nashville remains in Phase 3 of COVID Reopening. Effective Feb. 1, the following measures were in place: Restaurants that do not serve alcohol are permitted to be open 24 hours; bars and restaurants serving alcohol may stay open until midnight with the sale of alcohol ending at 11 pm. In both cases, capacity remains capped at 50% and no more than 8 per table. K-12 sporting events may have two attendees per participant. The Rule of 8 remains in effect for private gatherings. Vaccinations remain in the 1a1/1a2/75+ phase, which means high exposure healthcare workers, long term care residents and staff, first responders, those ages 75 and older, outpatient healthcare workers and mortuary workers should be eligible for vaccines. Although some counties have moved to lower age groups, Nashville remains at 75+ at this point. Currently, 69,531 Davidson County residents have received their 1st dose (7.8% of the population) and 38,668 are fully vaccinated (3.6% of the population). To date, MPHD and Nashville healthcare providers have administered 108,199 total doses to qualified recipients who live or work in Davidson County.
Tennessee State
State information is updated at the end of the day. The following information is from yesterday's report.
As of yesterday afternoon, the Tennessee Department of Health reported 760,303 cases of COVID-19 across the state (up 780 from the day before) with 729,629 cases defined as recovered or inactive. Currently, there are 1,131 hospitalizations (a net decrease of 8 from the previous day), and 10,985 deaths from the virus statewide (an increase of 31 in 24 hours) for a death rate of 1.44. The state has conducted more than 6.6 million tests (an increase of 7,904 in 24 hours) with an 7.64% positivity rate for the day. Hospital capacities stand at 17% of floor beds (1,974 beds) and 14% of ICU beds (279 beds) available statewide.
As of Feb. 17, 2021: 1,054,418 vaccines had been administered across the state, and increase of 123,475 vaccines since 2/10/21. Currently, 10.24% of Tennesseans have received at least 1 dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
