The National Science Foundation has awarded Fisk University a $5 million Center of Research Excellence in Science and Technology grant to establish the Center for Biological Signatures and Sensing. The BioSS Center will conduct interdisciplinary research in the area of biological, chemical, and nuclear sensors for biological applications.
Saint Thomas Medical Partners Family Health Center - West has received a one-year $45,000 grant from Baptist Healing Trust. The grant will fund a Patient Care Navigator Program, which will employ a full-time patient care navigator whose purpose is to work with uninsured patients and patients with multiple diagnoses or chronic conditions. The navigator will link patients with accessible medications, medical supplies, transportation and community resources for improved health outcomes.
