TriStar Skyline Medical Center recently announced the facility has achieved formal designation as a Level II trauma center by the Tennessee Department of Health. TriStar Skyline CEO Steve Otto noted the medical center began the journey toward this designation nearly three years ago. As one of only eight Level 1 or Level II trauma centers in the state, TriStar Skyline helps care for severely injured and critically ill patients in 57 counties in Tennessee and 47 counties in Kentucky.
The Certification Board for Professionals in Patient Safety (CBPPS) recently named Tennessee Oncology’s CMO Natalie Dickson, MD, a Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS). She earned the credential, in part, by passing a rigorous, evidence-based examination that tests candidates on their competency in patient safety science and application.
Saint Thomas Rutherford (STR) Bariatric Center has met new, higher standards and received another accreditation as a Comprehensive Center of Excellence, making 2016 the seventh year the STR Bariatric Center has been accredited. This new level of accomplishment follows the merger of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery into a single unified program to achieve one national accreditation standard for bariatric surgery centers, the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

Rick Thompson with Jackson Thornton Technologies (JTT), a Southeastern-based technology and consulting firm, recently earned the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation. Thompson, JTT’s technical services manager, has worked in the technology industry for more than 12 years. He is a systems, network and security engineer with hands-on technical experience in both the public and private sectors and advises clients on all aspects of information privacy and security programs.
