An internationally renowned physician-scientist and prolific author, Arteaga leads the prestigious Vanderbilt National Cancer Institute Breast Cancer SPORE grant and is one of Stand Up to Cancer's Dream Team investigators. He took the reins of the American Association of Cancer Research as the national organization's 2014-15 president. Arteaga also serves on the scientific advisory board for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation. A medical oncologist by training, Arteaga joined the faculty at Vanderbilt in 1989.
