Cartwright, who has served as board chair of AAC since 2011 and as CEO since 2013, has more than 20 years experience in the addiction treatment industry. In 2009, Cartwright co-founded Performance Revolution LLC (dba FitRx), a company focused on weight management, and served as CEO until 2011 when the company merged into Forterus, Inc. In 1999, he founded Foundations Recovery Network, LLC, a national alcohol and drug treatment company, and served on the board and as president and CEO until 2009. Earlier, in 1995, Cartwright founded Foundations Associates, a not-for-profit alcohol and drug treatment center in Nashville, which he led until its purchase by Foundations Recovery Network in 2007. Cartwright has conducted federally funded research on dual diagnosis and addiction and served on the U.S. Senate Help Subcommittee on Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services from 2003 to 2004. Currently, he is on the board of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems.
