The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) recently announced that the Tennessee Action Coalition would receive a second two-year grant through the Future of Nursing State Implementation Program (SIP). The $7.65 million initiative is helping states prepare the nursing profession to address our nation’s most pressing health care challenges—access, quality, and cost. Funding is being used to implement the IOM’s future of nursing recommendations in Tennessee.

The Baptist Healing Trust of Nashville has provided a $35,000 operations grant to Mental Health America of Middle Tennessee (MHAMT).  Previously, MHAMT was awarded three consecutive transom grants to support programs for Alzheimer’s caregivers and for multicultural outreach. MHAMT CEO Tom Starling said this grant money would be used to expand prevention and early identification programs and will also focus on educating first responders and clergy on mental health issues.
