Columbia City Hall and Recreation Facilities Remain Closed to the Public, Parks Remain Open

April 14, 2020 - In cooperation with the guidance of the White House, Governor Bill Lee issued Executive Order No. 27 on April 13, 2020, which extends Executive Order Nos. 17, 21, 22, and 23 and Tennessee's Stay at Home Order through April 30, 2020.

This Order shall be effective and enforceable at 12:01 a.m., Central Daylight Time, on April 14, 2020, and shall remain in effect until 11:59 p.m., Central Daylight Time, on April 30, 2020, at which time the suspension of any state laws and rules and the other provisions of this Order shall cease and be of no further force or effect.

"The Governor's latest Order makes clear: the state of Tennessee is to remain under a Stay at Home Order through the end of this month. I support the Governor's decision," stated Columbia Mayor Chaz Molder. "It is my hope that these aggressive efforts, coupled with continued positive developments regarding the curve flattening and sufficient resources to manage the current caseload will allow for a swift reopening of our local and state economies. It is important that we understand the return to normal will not happen overnight, but with everyone's help, it will happen sooner rather than later."

The City of Columbia will follow Governor Bill Lee's Executive Order as City Hall remains closed to the public, however, essential staff will continue to work a staggered schedule through April 30, 2020. City parks including Woodland Park, Fairview Park and Riverwalk Park will remain open. All City of Columbia Recreation facilities will remain closed. This includes the Armory Recreation and Fitness Center, Fairview Recreation Center, and Macedonia Recreation Center; as well as, all tennis courts, disc golf, playground, basketball courts and Muletown Bark Park.

"In light of the of the Governor's latest Executive 'Stay at Home' Order, City Hall will remain closed to the public along with the city's recreation facilities through April 30, 2020. The parks will remain open and it is strongly encouraged to practice social distancing during this time," said City Manager Tony Massey.
