Metro Nashville
For the first time, all of Nashville's key metrics are in the green, which indicates a satisfactory status for transmission rate, 14-day new case trend and health system and testing capacities. The city is now a little over a week into the reopening phase.
Today's roundup of case metrics has Nashville reporting 4,504 confirmed cases, an increase of 114 cases in 24 hours and jump of nearly 1,000 cases since reopening began on May 11. During the briefing, it was reported 3,097 Nashvillians have recovered from COVID-19 with 1,357 cases still active, which is a decrease of more than 400 active cases from the starting point of reopening nine days ago. There have been 47,428 tests administered in Nashville with a positive rate of 9.5% (4,504 positives & 42,924 negatives), which is a decrease in the rate of 0.3% from May 11.
The number of deaths in Davidson County now sits at 50. The total case fatality rate among the 4,504 confirmed cases is 1.1%. By race, death and fatality rates are as follows:

Tennessee State
As of Wednesday afternoon, May 20, the Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed 18,532 cases of COVID-19, an increase of 154 since yesterday). The number of deaths has risen to 309 (up four in 24 hours). There are 1,515 hospitalizations across Tennessee (up 17 since yesterday and 11,783 recovered (an increase of 814 in 24 hours). Currently, the state's known hospitalization rate is 8% of confirmed cases. Deaths continue to total right about 1.7 percent of reported cases.
Not only does Nashville lead the state in numbers of cases, but the MSA surrounding Davidson County also has significantly more cases than in other areas of the state with the 8-county Nashville MSA accounting for more than 7,200 of the state's 18,500 cases.
