AdhereHealth recently launched a program leveraging the company's existing business partners and data analytics to proactively identify underserved populations when it comes to access to COVID-19 vaccines in an effort to bridge that last mile of logistics. Now, the Franklin-based company is effectively getting shots into the arms of some of Tennessee's most vulnerable populations.
On April 12, AdhereHealth launched a week-long effort to distribute at least 2,000 vaccines to underserved populations in Hartsville - where only about 10 percent of people who live in the county have reportedly been vaccinated. Many of these area residents have faced significant barriers to accessing vaccines with issues ranging from unreliable transportation options and health conditions that have kept them homebound to a lack of adequate internet services.
AdhereHealth Chief Adherence Officer Cyndi Alexander, BSN, MHA, CPHQ, whose grandparents live in Hartsville, knows all too well the issues many rural Americans face when it comes to accessing medical services. That personal and professional impetus has been a driving factor in looking for innovative ways to protect the vulnerable during this pandemic. Across markets, AdhereHealth is taking an 'outside-of-the-box approach' to reaching those in need from partnering with dialysis centers and local restaurants as pop-up clinics to distributing vaccines in specific geographies, as well as sending RN's on Meals on Wheels routes to administer shots to those unable to travel.
