Jahangir Named a Vice President for Business Development

Alex Jahangir, MD, MMHC, professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Medicine and executive medical director of the Trauma Patient Care Center, has been named a Vice President for Business Development for Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

In this role Jahangir reports to C. Wright Pinson, MBA, MD, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Health System Officer, and will be responsible for business development goals and objectives that are aligned with institutional strategy. Additionally, he will focus on strengthening and expanding the trauma program and its network across the region, as well as further optimizing VUMC’s ambulatory surgery centers.

“Over the past several years, Alex has proven his value as both a leader at the Medical Center and in our community through highly visible and demanding roles as chair of the Metropolitan Board of Health of Nashville and Davidson County and as chair of the Metro Nashville Coronavirus Task Force,” said Pinson.

“During a pandemic, undeniably one of the most challenging times in every regard for public health, Alex has balanced his responsibilities masterfully, and he is a credit to VUMC. We are excited to announce his addition to our leadership team.”

As Vice President for Business Development, Jahangir will also work with clinical chairs and members of the Business Development team. He will maintain his practice as an orthopaedic trauma surgeon as well as other current institutional leadership roles.

Jahangir was raised in Nashville and graduated from Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from the George Washington University, his medical degree from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Management in Healthcare from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, and an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
