Bradley Malin, PhD, Accenture  Professor of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has received the Lasting Research Award from the Association for Computing Machinery’s (ACM) annual Conference on Data and Application Security and Privacy (CODASPY). The award was presented April 25 at CODASPY, held this year in Hanover, Maryland.

The citation reads, “For pioneering contributions to the foundations and algorithms in data privacy for biomedical applications that have had a lasting impact for over two decades.”

Drawing on methodologies from computer science, biomedical science and public policy, Malin’s research is focused on building technologies to enable data analytics and patient data privacy.

Malin joined VUMC in 2006. His PhD in computer science is from Carnegie Mellon University. Malin also holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, a master’s in machine learning and a master’s in public policy and management from Carnegie Mellon.

Founded in 1947 and having since grown to nearly 100,000 members, ACM is the world’s largest computing society. CODASPY was launched in 2010 by ACM’s Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control. The Lasting Research Award was established in 2017.
