Angela Shields, MD, PhD, recently joined the Mental Health Cooperative (MHC) as an adult psychiatrist. Additionally, she will be supervising and mentoring nurse practitioners and Vanderbilt residents during their community psychiatry training.

Prior to joining MHC, Shields completed her residency training at Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. She also covered inpatient geriatric and substance abuse units in Rivendell Behavioral Health in Bowling Green, Ky. Shields earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell and her medical degree and doctorate at Vanderbilt, with studies in the Department Molecular Physiology and Biophysics.
