Tristar Skyline Medical Center Welcomes New Chief Nursing Officer, Amy Higgins

 NASHVILLE — TriStar Skyline Medical Center is pleased to welcome Amy Higgins as Chief Nursing Officer. Higgins will lead nursing operations at the 474-bed multi-campus hospital and support quality and patient care experience initiatives.

Higgins previously served as the Chief Nursing Officer at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville.

"Amy exemplifies our mission and has a track record of making a positive impact in the lives of those around her," said Nicholas Howald, chief operating officer and interim chief executive officer of TriStar Skyline. “Amy’s leadership skills, compassion and genuine ability to connect with others will positively lead our hospital in to the future.”

Higgins has more than 28 years of nursing leadership experience. During the past ten years, she has served in a variety of nursing leadership positions throughout TriStar Health. Prior to serving as Chief Nursing Officer at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center, Higgins served as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at TriStar Skyline Medical Center. Higgins successfully led the TriStar Skyline nursing team through the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Despite the challenges the pandemic presented for nurses, she continued to implement practices to improve the patient experience and successfully support the facility.

“I am honored to return to TriStar Skyline in the role of Chief Nursing Officer,” said Higgins. “As an advocate for the nursing profession, I am thrilled to work alongside such a talented nursing staff and work together to improve the lives of our patients and colleagues.”

Higgins has a Master of Business Administration - Healthcare Management from Vanderbilt University, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University. Higgins has served as a panel member of the National Council State Boards of Nursing since 2009.
