Community Members are Invited to Participate in the Study
NASHVILLE – Clinical Research Associates, Inc. in Nashville is coordinating a clinical trial for weight loss medicine for people living with type 2 diabetes, and community members are invited to participate. Patients enrolled in the study will receive compensation for time and travel, and study-related medical care comes at no cost. Insurance is not needed.
The purpose of the study is to investigate how well a new medicine helps people living with excess body weight and type 2 diabetes lose weight. Most study participants will receive the investigational medicine, while a small amount will receive a placebo (35:1 ratio). Which treatment the participant receives will be determined by chance. The study will last approximately 18 months, includes several visits to Clinical Research Associates’ clinic at 1500 Church St. in Nashville, and periodic phone calls with medical staff.
Interested potential participants should visit Clinical Research Associates’ website at https://clinicalresearchassociates.com/type-2-diabetic-weight-loss/ or call (615) 329-2222 to learn more or sign up for a pre-screening phone call.
“This is an opportunity for Nashvillians to help advance new medicine that can aid people living with diabetes who want to lose weight,” said CRA president Linda Moore Schipani. “We hope that people from all backgrounds consider joining us, so researchers can understand how well the investigational medicine works for everyone.”
CRA’s patient engagement team will discuss additional qualification criteria, study details, and answer all questions during a pre-screening phone call with interested participants. Patient enrollment is open to the public until all spots are filled.
