Saint Thomas Midtown Hospital became the first in Middle Tennessee and second in the state to receive the prestigious designation as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility by Baby Friendly USA. Part of a global initiative by the World Health Organization and United Nation’s Children’s Fund, the program encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer optimal level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.

For the second year in a row, Boyden & Youngblutt Advertising and Marketing (B&Y) was one of six healthcare agencies or teams recognized at the 2015 Ragan’s Health Care PR and Marketing Awards. B&Y is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., and has a second location in Nashville.

Rebecca Hanif with Jackson Thornton has earned the Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) designation. Hanif, an AHIMA Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer, has worked in the healthcare industry for seven years. At Jackson Thornton, she assists multiple physician practices with process improvement on the Physician Quality Reporting System, Meaningful Use, and Coding Compliance. 

Diana S. Diaz, RN, MS of Nashville has been announced as chair of the American Cancer Society Mid-South Division Board of Directors for 2016, overseeing the 28 members representing six states. Diaz, a retired medical practice manager, has been an active ACS volunteer for three decades.

The HIMSS North American Board of Directors has recognized Susan K. Newbold, PhD, RN-BC, FAAN, FHIMSS, of the Tennessee HIMSS chapter, with the 2015 Chapter Leader of the Year Award. Newbold will be honored this month at the HIMSS16 Awards Gala in Las Vegas.

LBMC Investment Advisors Partner Derek Bland, CPA, PFS, CFP, was one of 22 CPAs age 40 and under from around the country honored by the AICPA for their contributions to the areas of personal financial planning with the first annual Standing Ovation, which recognizes the best young CPAs in various specialty credential areas.

Brentwood-based Corizon Health, Inc., recently announced the Tennessee Department of Corrections (TDOC) has awarded the company a new three-year contract to continue providing behavioral health services to the state prison system. Corizon has partnered with TDOC since July 2012 and was selected in January to continue working with them following a competitive bid process.
