Neighborhood Health recently received an $80,000 grant from Baptist Healing Trust to help support the development of behavioral health services along with the integration of those services into the primary care medical setting. The grant was part of Baptist Healing Trust’s $1.7 million in funding awards to 29 local non-profits from the organization’s most recent grant cycle.
Aron Parekh, PhD, assistant professor of Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has received a four-year, $790,000 Research Scholar Grant from the American Cancer Society to further his research into the mechanical and biological properties of cancer cells and the methods by which they leave the initial tumor and spread or metastasize to other parts of the body. His collaborator on this grant is Julie Sterling, PhD, assistant professor of Medicine in Clinical Pharmacology, Cancer Biology and Biomedical Engineering, who studies how cancer spreads to the bones.
