Parallon Technology Solutions, one of the organizations under the broader support services group owned by HCA Holdings, has created a chief medical officer role and named Charles Bell, DO, to the post.
Bell moves into his Parallon position after being vice president of advanced clinical applications at HCA for more than three years. He joined the hospital giant from Dignity Health (formerly Catholic Healthcare West).
In his new role, Bell will help oversee the development and implementation of IT tools related to the delivery of care and the capturing of detain hospital and outpatient centers, “with particular emphasis on clinical information systems and electronic health records.”
Bell holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rider University, a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy and a doctorate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in general internal medicine at Phoenix General Hospital in Arizona.
Parallon Technology Solutions is home to more than 400 clinical, financial and technical employees and has implemented EHR systems at more than 300 facilities.
