Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is pleased to recognize its 2019 honorees for outstanding accomplishments in clinical leadership. Dr. Dan Evans has been named Physician of the Year, Dr. Steven Thomas is the recipient of this year's Clinical Excellence Award, and Dr. Warren McPherson is the recipient of the Olin Williams Distinguished Service Award for lifetime achievement.
Physician of the Year honoree Dr. Dan Evans serves as Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine, Chairman of the Quality Committee at Saint Thomas Rutherford, and Chairman of the ED Collaborative--a committee that oversees emergency care across all hospitals in the Ascension Saint Thomas system. Dr. Evans is an esteemed lecturer and a past recipient of the "University of Tennessee Resident Teaching Award." He was nominated Physician of the Year by his Saint Thomas Rutherford medical staff peers.
Dr. Steven Thomas, recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award, relocated from West Tennessee in 2016 to meet a dire need in Murfreesboro by creating an interventional radiology program at Saint Thomas Rutherford. Recognized with the Olin Williams Distinguished Service Award, Dr. Warren McPherson is a retired neurosurgeon and a pioneer in providing neurological care for the patients of Rutherford and surrounding counties.

Honorees were presented with their awards at the December 5th Christmas party for hospital board members, physicians, and administration. Areas for award consideration included: hospital tenure, medical staff leadership, hospital board membership, and commitment to community service.
